About Stuna Gurka Art

I am an accidental artist who transforms forgotten postage stamps into vibrant collages of admired works of art. What began as an attempt to sell my childhood stamp collection -- tucked away for some 50 years -- turned into a creative awakening when I realized their lack of resale value didn’t diminish their beauty. Each stamp, a miniature masterpiece, deserved to be seen and celebrated.

I began by pairing my stamps with finds from thrift stores and estate sales; cleaning and restoring each host object before meticulously covering it with colorful vintage stamps. More recently, I’ve been laser cutting custom mats for framed pieces as the process allows me to explore unique and personalized ways to showcase the stamps’ artistry.

Creating postage stamp art has been unexpectedly rewarding. It's a joy to see people connect with my work and I’m grateful my stamps had little monetary value; otherwise, I might never have become an accidental artist.
